FHP Trooper Sideswiped By Car On Florida Turnpike

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- A Florida Highway Patrol trooper suffered only minor injuries Monday night after being struck by a vehicle while he was standing on the side of a highway.

Officials said Trooper Brian Hearn was sideswiped and thrown into the bed of a stopped pick-up truck late Monday on the Florida Turnpike.

Authorities said the driver of the vehicle that struck Hearn also hit two patrol cars that were stopped on the shoulder of the highway.

FHP is looking into whether alcohol was involved in the accident.
